What does Torrevieja have to offer?

Torrevieja is famous for its picturesque salt lakes that are home to hundred of wild flamingos. With over 300 days of sunshine, the region boasts one of the best climates in Europe. An annual average rainfall of only 10 days, winter shade temperatures of over 16C (60F) and summer temperatures well into the 30’s C (90’s F) make this one of the healthiest climates in the world!

Ideally situated between Alicante and Murcia airports, the town of Torrevieja is on the coastal plain of Valencia. The area is famous for its magnificent beaches, varying from long stretches of fine sand to coves, and sand dunes covered with pine and eucalyptus trees. There are also excellent picnic areas and sandy secluded bays set in rugged cliffs for those who like to truly escape.

The old fishing port of Torrevieja still retains much of its original charm and character, having its own harbour and fishing fleets. In addition, you will find numerous shops, restaurants, bars and cafes together with an indoor market selling a huge variety of seafood at unbelievably low prices.

For those that like a bargain there is a year round market situated on the seafront which sells everything from Spanish handicrafts to leather goods, clothing and jewellery. In addition, there is a local weekly Sunday market situated on the outskirts of Torrevieja at which you can haggle until your hearts content.

Dining out is extremely cheap and offers cuisine for all tastes. In addition to the traditional Spanish tapas there is an endless variety of international cuisine from French and Italian, to Chinese, Indian and Mexican.

The area offers a wealth of amenities for recreation as well as relaxation including golf courses, sailing schools, diving clubs, riding stables, tennis and gymnasiums as well as a water park and endless cafes and bars. For those who like theme parks a visit to the newly opened Terra Mitica is an absolute must.
